I am actually really excited to write this post as it involves a topic that has been on my mind for a while.I’ve recently become aware, not only of the awful ingredients in tampons and sanitary pads but the detrimental effect they have on the planet.Did you know that sanitary pads and tampons contain plastic that doesn’t break down easily and can be left on landfill sites for up to 500 years before they decompose? How scary is that?! Every woman will approximately have around 500 periods in her lifetime so imagine how much plastic waste that would generate!I was approached by a feminine care company called Modibodi that specializes in sustainable, reusable, leak-proof period underwear. I was very excited to give them a go and see if they work, so I can do my part in saving the planet from excess waste!Periods are not something I would normally blog about but on checking out Modibodi, the company, ethos, and products, I really wanted to try out their products and share my review. Sanitary products haven’t evolved over centuries and using the traditional methods of period control has and is adding to the accumulation of plastic pollution in landfill sites and in the oceans.Modibodi offers a vegan version of their bikini sanitary pants, a leak-proof bathing suit, and leggings with light to moderate absorbency.The underwear is made using fabrics like bamboo, microfiber and a vegan alternative to wool.Not all of their products are vegan, but they do have vegan options (as you can see in the images). The pants have the latest in breathable, antimicrobial fibers with a super slim lining, which is leak-proof and is stain resistant with an odor-fighting lining. On their website, you can shop by absorbency e.g heavy/overnight flow, light/moderate or mixed to find the perfect fit for you which is great!You can shop by type e.g active, light/moderate absorbency, swimwear or underpants. And shop for your exact size. So Modibodi has all your feminine needs covered!Imagine how you would be helping the environment! Eventually, the cost of the underwear would pay for itself and you wouldn’t need to buy sanitary products again.All you do is wear the underwear suited for your flow, when finished with, wash in cold water, pop into the washing machine, dry and wear again. It’s that simple!Do period pants really work?Yes, they do!To be honest, I was extremely skeptical about just wearing a pair of pants on a period. I know leaks are the worst and most embarrassing thing ever!!These pants are excellent, first of all, I love how they look and feel like normal pants!!  I didn’t experience any leakage or discomfort whilst wearing them. To be honest, they are super comfortable, stretchy and you feel very secure whilst wearing them! That’s one of the most important things to feel when you’re on a period!A pair of the overnight pants can hold up to 20ml, which is around 2-4 tampons! My final thoughts, definitely give them a go!
